Whoops… I forgot to do Professional Development!

In 1841 Ralph Waldo Emerson awakened many people to their ability to take control of their lives in his famous essay on “Self Reliance”.

He led people to discover that they need not be passive passengers in life rather they could steer their life direction in ways they like.

As long as a man stands in his own way, everything seems to be in his way

Emerson probably didn’t foresee the speed at which work and life has ascended in the 21st century. Do more with less, faster faster.

The detritus is often our own development.

How often I hear individuals say “I just can’t find the time to attend”, or “Can you send me the course notes?”.

Taking time to extend yourself, grow and learn, reflect and reset is essential in work and life. To paraphrase Emerson ….

Don’t stand in your own way

Take control by prioritising your own development.

What do you see as the impact of forgetting to attend professional development.
